Lawn Drainage

Updated: Feb 15, 2020

Indiana has experienced a very wet and soggy 2019! For many folks, it's been almost impossible to mow their lawns without getting the mower stuck or leaving deep ruts in the yard. In most cases this can be handled by installing field drains below the surface. These drains collect the excess water and move it to a discharging location. If the yard is to flat or to low then a dry-well or a lift station may need installed to take the water to the discharging location.

Some lawns require a single retainer wall or a group of walls to be installed to catch water coming off a steep slope. A french drain is installed at the base of the walls and discharges water to a better location. These walls can be made from multiple materials such as stone, brick, wood, and concrete. They can be very decorative and add a lot of charter to any lawn.

In addition to helping with your lawn, these drains and retainer walls may also serve to help with dispersing water away from your home's foundation. By doing so can add years of life to the foundation and possibly sparing it from potential failure and costing you tens of thousands in repairs.
